Chapter 2: Travel Day

Well, I have successfully made it to White Plains, NY, were I will be spending the majority of my summer (with some excursions to NYC). The drive was long with many sections of slow traffic that resulted in equally long conversations with my Dad (aka my travel companion).

I am looking forward to settling in at my accommodations tomorrow, and to begin my internship on Monday. To help prepare myself for the research I will be doing I have a list of articles about Anoxic IPM treatment options to read. I am hoping that the articles will give me a better idea of how pest infestations can be treated, and will prompt some questions that I can ask of my employers.

Should anyone be curious as to what I am referring to when I say Anoxic IPM treatment, I highly recommend that you look to the link below, it is a presentation given by on of my employers Rachael Perkins Arenstein a few years ago at the annual AIC Conference.

Another helpful resource that introduces Anoxic treatments is “Introduction to Anoxia in the Cultural Heritage Field ARTC667 Preventive Conservation Research and Applications” written by Kris Cnossen, 2021.

Anyways, that’s all for today, time to relax and read a fun book before the adventure begins again tomorrow!

P.S. this was my first look at the NYC skyline today!
